It isn't all about roller coasters.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has become one of my favorite escapes, especially for a girls day out. Yes, I adore the coasters, but my love for the park goes way beyond the rides. I can spend an entire day wandering, tasting, relaxing, and soaking in the atmosphere—and leave feeling completely happy and refreshed.

Through Labor Day weekend, Bier Fest keeps the summer energy going with special food offerings and a spotlight on beer, cocktails, and mocktails that pair perfectly with a day in the park.

My tips for making the most of your visit:

  • Festival map — Grab one so you know exactly where you’re headed.

  • Menu planning — Look at the menu ahead of time; there’s no way to try everything in one visit.

  • Sharing dishes — Split items with a friend so you can sample more.

  • Tasting card — It’s the easiest way to enjoy half‑sized adult beverages throughout the festival.

I went all‑in on drinks this time, pairing them with an all‑day dining pass and plenty of rides.

The butterfly margarita at the Bier Fest booth near Escape From Pompeii was a fun, refreshing surprise. They offer mocktails too, which makes the booth a great stop for everyone.

My favorite beer selection was tucked inside Das Brauhaus in the Festhaus. If you’ve never wandered to the back, there’s a cozy little bar that’s perfect for taking a breather. It’s also one of the best spots in the park for Wi‑Fi, which makes it even better.

Bier Fest runs through Monday, September 7.

And before you head out, don’t miss the drone show that lights up the night through Sunday, September 6.
